Goodbye panda eyes, hello skyn ICELAND

I’ll admit it now, I’m very fucking lazy when it comes to taking my make up off. I’ve heard of girls who can sleep in their make up and never break out (Charlotte Tilbury actually reapplies make up BEFORE bed, a level of extra I can only admire), and sadly I am not one of those girls. But the absolute bane of my life is my eye make up. If I’m doing full glam, whether it’s for a day or a night out, I spend a lot of time and products on making sure that shit will not budge, but unfortunately that does not make for easy removal.

There are of course so many amazing eye make up removal products out there, but I had yet to find one that actually worked quickly. I’d end up having to use five different cotton pads or wipes just on one eye, scrubbing away at my lashes, wondering if I should pack in make up and just join a convent instead. Not one to be dramatic or defeatist, I picked up a Make Up Eraser in Sephora – a flannel that removes make up with only water. This does work (I’ll actually talk about this in a later post, I love it and I have no idea how it works but it does and it’s mad), and it’s much more environmentally friendly than using an entire pack of Simple face wipes in an evening, but I still had to really scrub at my eyes to get the heavy duty stuff off.

IMG_0151So now, like the moment in an infomercial when the woman realises she’s been pouring milk wrong her whole life, ENTER SKYN ICELAND, THE AMAZING ICELANDIC MAKE UP REMOVER. I found this when researching vegan skincare, but it’s honestly so good it shouldn’t have to feel like a compromise at all. Skyn ICELAND Glacial Cleansing Cloths for Eyes retail at £13 a pack (30 cloths). I know this seems pricey when you can pick up Simple for about a tenth of the cost in Superdrug, but you really only need one cloth a night – not one per eye, one will do both – so that works out at 43p a day, which is doable even in this Brexit economy. And the cloths themselves are honestly amazing. No need to add water, you simply rub the sides together to create a light foam, then sweep across the eyes. They take everything off – even Kat Von D Tattoo Liner – with coconut oil, which moisturises at the same time, and are packed with cucumber extract to calm and destress. They’re not gonna cure your depression, but you shouldn’t wake up with puffy eyes. They also contain skyn ICELAND’s “special Biospheric complex,” which features Icelandic glacial waters, arctic berries, and Björk softly screaming for an authentic Icelandic experience. Honestly, these are the fucking shit. I’ve seen them advertised as on-the-go, so if you’re bougie enough that a pack of £13 cleansing cloths is just for your overnight bag then congrats and I’m jealous, but I’ve incorporated them into my night time routine and I’m super happy with them. They’re also 100% vegan and cruelty free, which is a massive bonus. 10/10 would recommend.
